Introduction to Assessment learning
VTCT Courses are assessed and verified by the schools Tutors. Work will be set to improve your practical skills, knowledge and understanding. For practical elements you will be observed by your Tutor. All your work must be collected in a portfolio of evidence and cross-referenced to requirements listed in your Record of assessment book.
Our school has an internal verifier whose Role is to check that your work and evidence is valid, reliable and meets the VTCT standards and regulatory requirements as well as the Bronwyn Conroy standards that we set for all our students.
An external verifier, appointed by VTCT, will visit our College twice a year to sample and quality check assessments, and all evidence gathered by students. It will be at this stage only that you will receive your qualification.
Portfolio of Evidence
As part of this qualification you are required to product a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. Your Tutor will provide guidance on how to prepare your portfolio and how to show practical achievement, and understanding of the knowledge required to successfully complete this qualification. To further enhance your practical skills, participation in a weekly College Salon will be required from January 2016. We will have many different times that you can participate but this is a mandatory part of your course.
